What to expect on your first visit

We know that preparing your pet for a surgical procedure can be stressful. That’s why we work to provide the most attentive and compassionate care possible, to put you at ease from the moment you arrive to our surgical center.

Upon your arrival, you will be greeted by one of our receptionists, who will assist you in completing our onboarding procedure and who will ensure that we have all the required information needed on your pet.

After this stage is completed, one of our trained veterinary assistants will lead you into an exam room. Here, you’ll meet one of our board-certified surgeons; the surgeon will take a thorough history of your pet’s health and perform a physical examination.

Once the physical examination is complete, we will present a diagnostic/therapeutic treatment plan personalized for your pet. We will discuss the prognosis, provide a cost estimate for the suggested procedure and answer any questions you may have. We are as transparent as possible about our surgical costs and about the implications that any surgical procedures may have.

If you are visiting on the day of your pet’s surgical procedure, we’ll recommend that your pet fasts before the surgery so that any required additional diagnostics or procedures can be performed the same day.

Please ensure that your pet does not eat past midnight.

Finally, we also recommend that you bring all available medical records. While we will communicate directly with your primary veterinarian to secure your pet’s records, this ensures that we have comprehensive records for your pet on the day of the surgery.

Our team of surgeons will communicate directly with the referring veterinarian (rDVM) as soon as the surgical procedure is completed, while also working with them to ensure that they have access to the most recent information and will be adequately prepared for their discharge.
