Areas of expertise
Our surgeons incorporate complete examinations, CT scanner, digital radiography (X-rays), myelography, bloodwork, cytology, biopsy, bacterial/fungal culture, CSF analysis, joint fluid analysis and ultrasonography to provide the best diagnoses, recommendations and treatment options. In addition to the operations and diseases treated below, we perform many other surgical procedures. We have a fully staffed intensive care unit which provides 24-hour monitoring and care for postoperative recovery and ill patients.
Orthopedic Surgery allows us to treat injuries and illnesses that relate to the musculoskeletal system of your pet.
General & Soft Tissue surgery allows us treat dogs and cats requiring surgery for conditions relating to cardiothoracic, gastrointestinal, respiratory or urogenital issues.
Much like humans, cats and dogs can experience issues with their nervous system that severely impact cognition, mobility and catalyze a myriad of other health issues.
The Orthopedic Foundation for Animals promotes the health and welfare of pets by minimizing the spread and impact of genetic disease and for that reason, Veterinary Surgery of Birmingham is proud to provide OFA Certification to qualifying pets.
